Every year Tololamos awards scholarships to talented students in El Tololar.

Some are just to cover uniform, food and transportation for the poorest students to attend school. Others help promising secondary school graduates attend university, or study English full-time.

In a country that has very limited opportunities available, we try to give young Tololareños the best chance they can have by helping them complete and expand their education. There is high demand for English-speaking tour guides, government employees and call center workers – all jobs that bring a higher standard of living in Nicaragua.

The cost of most scholarships is not high – $20 can cover a student’s travel and food to secondary school for a month, and $120 pays for a month of English classes. If you’d like to help sponsor Tololar’s students, becoming a recurring donor is a wonderful thing to do – it gives us a predictable income stream, which in turn allows us to offer and uphold more scholarships.
